, Delambre, Jean Baptiste Joseph, 1749-1822. Paris, De l Imprimerie impériale, 1810, vii, 272pp., pleasantly bound in mid-20th century red cloth with typed spine label, old dampstain at top corner of pages up to page 80 in diminishing breadth, date 1810 in ink on title page, as margins are very wide this does not impact the text. -- NOTE: Delambre was the most famous astronomer in France and was fortunate enough to survive the revolution with his head and his observatory intact. The Rapport, published in 1810, belongs to the latter period of Delambre's career, when his interest turned to the history of mathematics and astronomy. -- "Conquests will come and go but this work will endure": Napoleon's comments on Delambre's measurement of the earth on the basis of the metric system.
