Uniform matching first edition hard back binding in publisher's original russet cloth covers, gilt title lettering and volume details to the spines, floral end leaves. 8vo. 9½'' x 6½''. Contains [xxxiii] [corrections leaf] 724; 866 printed pages of text with numerous monochrome text illustrations throughout the two volumes. Belonging to Henry Lehman, founder of Lehman Brothers financial services, with his name to the top of each title page. Neatly repaired fraying of the cloth to the spine edges, rear hinge to volume II is cracked, corners worn through to the boards, lots of ink and pencil notes to the margins, probably by Lehman. We have never seen any complete 1885 first edition set. Member of the P.B.F.A. UNIFORMS & BADGES.
