However, there are several cracks exposing hinges in between pages throughout the book, including a large crack between List of Illustrations page and first page (page 9), pages look uneven. Spine is sunken in, scuffed & darkened, bumped & frayed either end cloth split exposing binding there, lettering & decoration fully visible & detailed but worn away in places, gilt is dull. Cover is slightly marked mostly on back, faded round edges, edges worn & bumped, vignette is scuffed in places, some surface damage to laminate & corners of which 3 are lifted & have creases. Corners are bumped & frayed, boards exposed there. Frontispiece and first page have frayed & creased edges. Some pages (very few) have faint finger smudges in margins, and/or tiny edge nicks & bumps, and/or corners folds/creases. Illustration plate facing page 108 is rippled alongside spine. Top edge is darkened & marked. Light age tanning & occasional foxing throughout, more pronounced on end papers & last page. VERY RARE ITEM, BEAUTIFUL INSIDE!!!
