Fr board foreedge extends 1/8" or so longer than the rear board foreedge = a defect from the printer perhaps. 6.25" x 8.25". Tan cloth with decorative illustration in blind on front board, and gilt lettering to spine. Only the very slightest external wear to dj, unclipped decorative dj in acetate protector. "Lindley Williams Hubbell (1901- 1994) was an American poet and translator. In 1926 he began working as a reference librarian at the New York Public Library, and one year later was awarded the Yale Younger Poets award. In 1946 he left his position at the NYPL to head the literature department at the Randall School in Hartford, a position he held until 1953, when he took a job cataloging books at Daitoku-ji, which in turn led to a teaching position at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan. He became a naturalized Japanese citizen that year and changed his name to Hayashi Shuseki. He retired from teaching in 1970 and remained in Japan for the rest of his life. He died in Kyoto in 1994."
