Wallace is one of the most colorful figures of contemporary times and the real American is interested in the true version of the fiery fighter who upsets political applecarts. This stimulating, provocative book that will interest liberals and conservatives . . . the readers who want Wallace back in the Iowa cornfields and those who want him at the helm of political and economic activity. This startling, provocative book answers these questions with facts. WHAT IS THE 60 MILLION JOB PLAN? WHERE DOES WALLACE PLAN TO DIG UP 60 MILLION JOBS? WHAT ABOUT THE BEVERIDGE PLAN? WHAT HAPPENED TO CAUSE THE JESSE JONES FEUD? WHY THE CABINET SWITCH FROM AGRICULTURE TO COMMERCE? WHY DO THE SOUTHERN SENATORS BLOCK WALLACE? WHAT ABOUT INTERNATIONAL TRADE AFTER THE WAR? WHY NOT A LABOR PARTY? WHAT ARE THE WALLACE POST-WAR PLANS FOR PROSPERITY? XX About the Author. DR. FRANK KINGDON is well known to the American people. In 1944 a survey showed that he had the fifth largest radio audience of any commentator in Greater New York. In addition to his popular broadcasts, Dr. Kingdon lectures and writes on political and economic issues. THAT MAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE was his latest outstanding best seller. He has pursued various public-spirited professions in his adult life. He resigned from the ministry to become president of the University of Newark. In this scholastic atmosphere Kingdon began his intensive study of national and international affairs, and finally gave up his presidency to devote himself to informing the people about the facts he made it his business to learn. Out of this quest for fact has come AN UNCOMMON MAN: Henry Wallace and 60 Million Jobs.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. New edition. This is one of a couple of dozen or so titles published by this remarkable man, mostly between the 20's and 50's, and mostly recounting the adventurous expeditions he went on during his 50 years as an explorer, botanist and plant collector. First published by Gollancz in 1930, this book is illustrated with sepia photographs, and comes with Preface, Appendix and Index. Minerva Press also re-issued another of Kingdon-Ward's books, "The Land of the Blue Poppy". It has a satisfyingly solid and old-fashioned feel, this book, with its green cloth and stained top edge, hefty paper stock, sepia photographs and good dark print. This copy is near fine in a very good dust jacket indeed with wear to top of spine and the ghost of a label on front panel.
