Blue Boards. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. "If in the past the study of lipides has enjoyed only limited popularity, the peculiar and quite unattractive physical properties of these substances is chiefly to blame. Even today it is tedious and often impossible to isolate lipides in a state of purity which satisfies rigid chemical standards. In metabolic studies also, the problems facing investigators are formidable. Many of the lipide substrates and enzymes are water-insoluble and resist handling by the techniques of classical enzymology. Fortunately, these obstacles are gradually yielding to powerful new tools, and this should lend greater appeal to an area which has long been synonomous with Schmierchemie. [This book], planned as a companion to Hanahan's Lipide Chemistry, is a series of contributions dealing with the transformations of lipides by living systems and by isolated enzymes." [Preface] The papers are: Enzymatic Mechanisms of Fatty Acid Oxidation and Synthesis (Green, Wakil); The Metabolism of the Unsaturated Fatty Acids (Mead); The Metabolism and Function of Phosphatides (Rossiter, Strickland); Metabolism of Glycerides (Borgstrom); Lipolytic Enzymes (Kates); Hormonal Regulation of Fatty Acid Metabolism (Langdon); Formation and Metabolism of Bile Acids (Bergstrom, et al.); and Chemistry and Metabolism of Bacterial Lipides (Asselineau, Lederer). 411 pages, with tables, figures, and Index; plus xiii pages Preface, and Contents; References at the end of each paper. Boards show scant wear at lower leading edges and lower backstrap; text is clean and strong.

Januar 1912 in Neisse, Provinz Schlesien; ? 15. /// Standort Wimregal PKis-Box86-U021 Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 10.

Book
Hardcover. Condition: gut. Auflage: 20. Thoraxschmerz) - also die vordergründigste Beschwerde. Wieder also "ein bisschen besser".
