Goldsborough's gilt signatture on cover, corners mildly worn, hinges ok. Missing front and read endpapers, top half of second rear endpaper missing, short closed tear to first two leaves, neat owner's stamp on first leaf. Frontispiece of Major General Arnold Elzey, a few others engravings. Contents clean and complete. Printed four years after the end of the Civil War, the paper is fragile but has lasted well. The author, W.W. Goldsborough, admitted to robbing dead bodies. Howes G-226. An extremely scarce and important volume written by a participant duing the American Civil War.
