Hardcover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. Octavo. 216 pages. Hardcover bound in dark blue cloth with gold lettering. The binding is worn and bumped at the edges. Spine ends fraying. There is some foxing to the interior, especially to the title page. Prior owner's bookplate on the front pastedown and some library in stamps on the second front flyleaf, which is torn at the top edge. The text is toned but clean and sound.

This is one of many listed by me, sadly McBean did not write his name in the books. 10.5 x 16cm.approx.

Édition originale, un des 100 exemplaires numérotés d'un tirage de luxe sur Japon, spécialement imprimé pour les États-Unis, comportant les planches hors-texte en double état. Le portrait gravé de la Reine Élizabeth Ière placé en frontispice a été très soigneusement aquarellé à la main. Élisabeth Ière, née le 7 septembre 1533 au palais de Placentia à Londres et morte le 24 mars 1603 au palais de Richmond à Londres, fut reine d'Angleterre et d'Irlande de 1558 à sa mort. Bel exemplaire, bien relié par Zaehnsdorf. 1896.
