Book
Condition: Fine. First softcover edition. Fine. xiv+ 401 pp. Introduction by Doris Grumbach. Omnibus of three short novels by Isabel Bolton (pseud. of Mary Britton Miller), first published in 1946, 1949 and 1952. In each, voices move the stories--each carefull constructed narrritive is built by layering of conversation, perception, and inner monologue onto lyrical descriptions of New York City. "Many Mansions" was a National Book Award for Fiction nominee in 1952. Though highly praised as a writer at the time by such critics as Edmund Wilson and Diana Trilling, Bolton had all but disappeared from the literary landscape by the time of her death in 1975.
