Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 1943 hardcover; very good condition - no dust jacket. From the author's preface: "Brings up to date American popular music from a purely factual standpoint. The biographies delineate the lives of those who are or have been engaged in perpetuating the most American of all arts - jazz. The record valuation pages deal with a unique by-product of the music itself, that of collecting out-of-print discs - long considered worthless by the phonograph companies. I have come to realize more and more that a book of factual information - of which there was none - was more sorely needed than another critical survey, of which there had been an abundance."
