Hardcover. Condition: Good. First Edition. 12mo. 315 pages, indexed. Hardback bound in burgundy cloth with titles in white. A prior owner has written some shelf numbers in white on the spine, although this is NOT an ex-library copy. The spine is worn and rubbed. The binding is a little cocked but sound. The text is clean. Illustrated with several photos and 2 color folding maps as well as one double page black and white map.

The covers have some edge wear, bumped corners and are rubbed. The spine is faded and rubbed with the head and heel frayed and some short tears. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Presumed 1st as edition not stated. Ex-library (church) copy with limited markings and attachments, but no outer sticker. Text is clean, pages have aged gently with time. Binding is tight and solid. Copy contains 9 b/w photos of missionary and native life. One of 9 is frontispiece covered with tissue protector. Three maps are also included, two of which are colored fold-out still attached and without tears. The first is religions of Africa including Christians, Mohammedans and Heathens. The 2nd is Changes of a Century referring to colonial ownership from Britain to Germany. Fly page signed by Ed Tainbairn (?), previous owner at one time. Wine colored boards with white lettering and map to front cover is bright and legible, printing on spine not as good. Very light wear to corners and spine head and tail but no scuffing to either.
