This book is undated, but believed to be the First Edition, published by Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, 1892. 8vo, 22 cm x 14.5 cm x 3.5 cm, Green cloth-covered bevelled boards, Red cloth-covered spine, Gilt & black embossed lettering & decoration on spine & front cover. 414 pages in total. Weight: 640 Grams. CONTENTS ARE MOSTLY IN GOOD CONDITION!!! However, there is a small hole & tear among text on p. 115/116 of the 3rd story in the book, part of 5 words in total is missing, but text is still decipherable, and should read as follows: p. 115: "go up", p. 116: "passed for curls in those days. Between the windows there were mirrors.door on the other side of the room, Claude had just.". Last page of 2nd story also has a small hole among text, but is legible (word affected is Petworth). There are several cracks between pages throughout, including splits in paper between pastedowns & endpapers at front and back of book. Spine is discoloured, soft & a bit grubby, vertical ridges down its length, split in cloth alongside front cover at tail, bumped, scuffed & frayed either end, gilt & decoration fully visible but worn away in places, gilt a little dull.
