Book First Edition
Paperback. Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. 1st Printing. A NEAR FINE, bright, clean, tight copy. PROFUSELY ILLUSTRATED in vintage black-and-white photography with accompanying descriptive captions/passages. "Remembering Connecticut" celebrates 80 years of growth, change, and reform through a collection of snapshots, each providing a unique and different viewpoint. The result is not a narration, but rather a set of impressions captured through the lenses of many different cameras." 134 pages. "From the decades following the Civil War we view Connecticut's inventiveness and industrial genius through its mills and factories. In its neighborhoods, colleges, and rural towns we glimpse its religious, cultural, and intellectual wealth. Along rural lanes, railroads, rivers, and highways we catch images of its farmers, workers, and war heroes, of its reformers, industrial statesmen, inventors, and schoolchildren. Through train wrecks, floods, and blizzards, "Remembering Connecticut" provides a glimpse at the hardscrabble toughness that characterizes the people of Connecticut." GE1.

Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First Edition (Number Line to 1). This is a rare copy with a dust jacket. You can see the covers of the book in the photos. They are very clean. There's a little toning off the front bottom edge (The covers are darker than my lousy phone camera is indicating, look better than the photos, at least as they appear on my computer). The silver lettering on the spine is very bright . The edges are in very good shape with just one little shallow dent on the front bottom edge. There's a little bit of the usual crinkling at the spine ends. The corners are in excellent shape. The page edges are perfectly clean. The book is square and very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The interior of the book is in excellent condition. I scrolled through the pages several times without finding any instances of soiling. And despite their semi-glossy quality, I'm not seeing any toning. There also don't appear to be any creases. There are no markings. No attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. There are great many illustrations. In fact, the only pages without them are the Contents, Acknowledgments, Preface and Essay pages. Also the last six pages which are titled Notes On The Photographs. So lots of illustrations, all in black and white, great nostalgia covering the periods 1878-1916, 1917-1938, 1939-1945, and 1946-1960s. The dust jacket is in excellent shape as well. It is perfectly clean. There are no tears. Again, there is some crinkling at the spine ends. That represents the entirety of wear on the jacket. The flaps are perfectly clean and free of wear. This large jacket will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are taken. From the dust jacket: 'The Nutmeg State, the Constitution State, the Land of Steady Habits. For a state that some derisively claim is "no bigger than a postage stamp," there is no shortage of nicknames or descriptors for Connecticut. Nor is there any shortage of history! Historic Photos of Connecticut celebrates eighty years of growth, change, and reform through a collection of snapshots, each providing a unique and different viewpoint. The result is not a narration, but rather a set of impressions captured through the lenses of a hundred different cameras. From the decades following the Civil War, we view Connecticut's inventiveness and industrial genius through its mills and factories. Through train wrecks, floods, fires, and blizzards, Historic Photos of Connecticut provides a glimpse at the hardscrabble toughness that characterizes the people of Connecticut.'.
