Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. numerous (illustrator). 1st Edition. An exceedingly unusual state of the book; the folio has been split into four separate black stiff-cloth volumes. Presumably the four volumes were created in preparation for binding in either cloth or leather. Volume one contains 10 pages of introductory text; ' The Buildings of the Exposition. ' thereafter each plate is accompanied by two or three pages expanding on the specific work. The four folios contain all 48 engravings on steel and another 28 wood engravings, all appearing on full plates. Scattered throughout the volumes are another 85 illustrations to the tailpiece, titling, headpiece, etc. A very good set, the fourth volume has a stain to the edge of the first few pages ( not effecting the plates within ) Small bookplate of William K. Muir to each volume. Shipping consistent with respective postal rates.

Front board detached, spine is present but only attached on at the rear, moderate wear. 138 pages of text plus 48 steel engraved plates on heavyweight paper, plus 28 wood engraved plates & 85 text illustrations (illuminations, initials, and portraits), contents are in EXCELLENT condition.
