Book
Cloth. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Good +. Reprint. This is a fine copy - almost as new! Red binding. The top edge of the pages is also red and it has faded lightly about and inch and a half, probably from exposure to the sun.The dust jacket is in good condition overall. There are small pieces missing along the edges and the spine but these areas have been reinforced with tape on the inside. From the dust jacket: "Here's the REAL story of the settling of the West, and of the men who made the "Wild West" wild. Fred Sutton knew them all, and gives you in "Hands Up!" through A. B. MacDonald a graphic description and biography of such outstanding outlaws and law-abiding citizens as "Wild Bill" Hickok, Pat Garret. Bat Masterson, Frank and Jesse James, "Billy, the Kid, "Belle Starr, Al. Jennings, Bill Tilghmann and many others." This book is not rated well in Six-Guns 2173 which in part reads: "The author makes many questionable statements. According to his narrative he appears to have been personally acquainted with all the outlaws of the West, but in view of his age at his death in 1927, such acquaintances would have been impossible. He claims that he saved the life of Billy the Kid in Dodge City, but he would have been only three years old at the time. The author's accounts of Billy the Kid, Wild Bill Hickok, and all the rest have many errors, too numerous to list her." Although the historical events described by the author are not accurate, it is a fun read and anyone who reads this will be motivated to research the lives of the badmen of the West.
