Although the work is unashamedly of the Christian mission nature, few people were mixing with, and being accepted by, Gypsies in the nineteenth century, and this remains a fascinating record of the families living and travelling in and around Wiltshire and Dorset.

A good tight green cloth binding, edges rubbed and bumped. Illustrated front board, image dulled. Titles in red to both front board and spine. Smooth spine dulled and rubbed. Endpapers lightly foxed. Handwritten dedication to front endpaper: "Hettie Tutin from J. H. S. to remember June 15th-20th 1901." Also; bookseller's blind stamp to front endpaper: "W. H. Smith & Son, London".
