Contemporary calf, ornately border gilt-stamped on boards, gilt-stamped lettering and ornament in compartmented spine; 32mo; pp. 443, plus engraved vignette-illustrated title-p., engraved frontispiece. Sipne just a little dry; some light scuffing along joints, at spine tips, and edges of boards. Some light foxing on prelims and terminals, but text block is overall clean and unmarked.

Jerusalem Delivered, also known as The Liberation of Jerusalem, is an epic poem by the Italian poet Torquato Tasso (1544-1595), first published in 1581. This highly imaginative poem tells the story of the First Crusade in which Christian knights battle Muslims in order to take Jerusalem. The poem was hugely successful and influential. This is the ninth edition of John Hoole"s English translation of this work, written in heroic couplets. It is complete in one volume. In the publisher's original boards. Externally, sound, though lightly soiled to the boards. Small tear to the tail of the spine, vertical crack to the spine, and small loss to the head of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Good. book.
