No Binding. Condition: Collectible-Fine. 'Writ of Inquisition, Saratoga Springs, New York". 7 pages (8 x 12 3/4 inch) hand written document. The Inquisition was conducted to ascertain the amount of damages owed by James McGregor Jr. to Amos P. Stanton & George H. Tracey, in a long standing suit before the New York Supreme Court. The jurors of the Inquisition find that McGregor still owes $274.37 for "goods sold and delivered" to him while doing business in Schenectady County, New York. The Writ is signed by: Salmon Hulin, Henry P. Hyde, Joseph Westcott, Luther Messinger, Samuel Chapman, Lewis P. Glove, Mervin G. Putnam, Eli Holbrook, Samuel C. Perry, John A. Waterbury, Robert Gardner and Samuel C. West. And signed by the Sheriff, James Jennings. The accompanying manuscript documents include a long statement by Wm. L.F. Warren, attorney for the plaintiff, describing the history of the case (signed by Warren) and a request by the clerks of the supreme Court requesting the Inquisition by conducted. Fine clean copy.
