First Edition
Stapled Wraps. First Edition, First Printing. pp. 62. 12mo, measuring 6" x 8.7". Illustrated, thrice-stapled, card covers. Rich with many illustrated period advertisements by sponsoring local businesses, merchants, and firms including: Breen's Used Car Market, the Canada Bread Co., Ltd., Crescent Creamery Co., Fuller Brushes, the Winnipeg Electric Co., and many others. Comprises of a rich selection of recipes as compiled by an unusual collaboration between the the "Ladies of St. Vital", each belonging to two different churches namely St. Mark's Anglican Church and Regent's Park United Church. Sections include: Cakes, Cookies and Rock Cakes, Tea Dishes and Conserves, etc., Bread, Ice Cream, "How to Cook A Husband", Pies, Salads, Meats, Fish, Soups, Candies, and much more. Extremities rubbed, some spotting, staples show rusting (but remain tight, and sound). Internally there are some tide-marks present to the margins of the initial few pages, some age-toning throughout (though text-block remains remarkably clean and unmarked especially in consideration of its age). Overall, very good. Exceedingly rare in commerce. We were only able to locate one institutional holding of this title (corresponds to OCLC #1010972257). Rare indeed. See Driver's Citation: M48.1 (p.956) wherein she remarks on the unusual collaboration between two different churches in the compiling and publication of this cookbook.
