The diary of Colonel Gilbert (39th Ohio Volunteer Infantry) in the campaigns of 1861-1862. Gilbert was severely wounded at the 2nd Battle of Corinth. The regiment was from Cincinnati and had a strong record in the Civil War. They started in Missouri then fought at Island No. 10, the Siege of Corinth, Iuka then the Battle of Corinth. The book is an account taken from diaries of Gilbert and the letters he sent his wife during the Civil War. Dark green boards with gilt lettering on the front cover and spine. Very good copy of the first edition. No dust jacket. Large fold out map. 122 pages.
