Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 338+[1 biographic] pages with frontispiece and and photographs. Octavo (8 1/2" x 5 3/4") bound in quarter blue cloth with gilt lettering to spine over blue blind-stamped boards in original pictorial jacket. First edition. In this first candid "inside" look at the human side of the space program, it is the story of Buzz Aldrin, who returned to earth from the historic first landing on the moon to begin a long and troubled odyssey--an ordeal that involved a secret mental depression and the near dissolution of his marriage. It is the revelation, in Aldrin's own words, of one of the most daring exploits in history and of what happened afterward: The intense training. The celebrated first touchdown on the moon. The instant--and unexpected--fame and notoriety, and the difficult adjustment of becoming a public personality. The demanding world-wide public relations tour for NASA for which his rigid training, from West Point through the astronaut corps, had never prepared him. The near impossibility of reconciling his public image as a hero to the realities of being a husband, father and pilot -academician. Condition: Previous owner's name on front end paper, sunning to head edges else a very good copy in like jacket.
Paperback. Condition: Good. Bantam Edition. This is a mass market paperback. The cover has some creases along the spine and surface wear and scuffing over the front and back.

Now Andrew Chaikin tells the story of the Apollo missions as never before: through the eyes of the astronauts who made those heroic voyages. A decade in the making, A Man on the Moon is based on hundreds of hours of in-depth interviews with each of the twenty-four moon voyagers, as well as those who contributed unprecendented brain power, training, and teamwork on earth. . . . ///// APOLLO: THE RACE TO THE MOON Here, for the first time, is the dramatic story of the Apollo space program. Murray and Cox recount how, in fewer than ten years, the men and women behind the scenes accomplished the extraordinary feat of landing a man on the moon--and changed the way we look at our world! ///// FIRST ON THE MOON First on the moon. The sound of the words themselves cannot convey their full meaning, the weight of wonder that they bear. The time, money, lives, will, knowledge - the total effort that went into putting man on the moon is beyond measurement. First on the Moon: A Voyage with Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr. is the exclusive story of Apollo 11 and the always thrilling and historic personal experiences of the three astronauts who put man on the moon. ///// THIS NEW OCEAN This New Ocean is based on 175 interviews with Russian and American scientists and engineers; on archival documents, including formerly top-secret National Intelligence Estimates and spy satellite pictures; and on nearly three decades of reporting. ///// THE RIGHT STUFF Men first flew into space in 1961, but until The Right Stuff was first published in 1979 few people had a sense of the most engrossing side of that adventure: namely, the perceptions and goals of the astronauts themselves, aloft and during certain remarkable odysseys on earth.

No Binding. Condition: Fine. Canceled check from Buzz Aldrin's personal checking account. It is dated August 26, 1988 and is made out to San Diego Gas & Elect. for the amount of $18.26. Check has been signed "Buzz Aldrin" in black ink. Remainder of the check has been filled out in another hand. Buzz Aldrin was born in Montclair, New Jersey on January 20, 1930. He was educated at West Point, graduating with honors in 1951, third in his class. After receiving his wings, he flew Sabre Jets in 66 combat missions in the Korean Conflict, shooting down two MIG-15's. Returning to his education, he earned a Doctorate in Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Manned Space Rendezvous. The techniques he devised were used on all NASA missions, including the first space docking with the Russian Cosmonauts. In October 1963, Aldrin was selected by NASA as one of the early astronauts. In November 1966, he established a new record for Extra- Vehicular Activity in space on the Gemini XII orbital flight mission. He has logged 4500 hours of flying time, 290 of which were in space, including 8 hours of EVA. As Backup Command Module Pilot for Apollo VIII, man's first flight around the moon, Buzz significantly improved operational techniques for astronautical navigation star display. Then, on July 20, 1969, Buzz and Neil Armstrong made their historic Apollo XI moon walk, thus becoming the first two humans to set foot on another world. This unprecedented heroic endeavor was witnessed by the largest worldwide television audience in history.
