Drawn from the recently published and now scarce title, The Indian Alps And How We Crossed Them, by a Lady Pioneer, London, 1876. The author of that book, Nina Elizabeth Mazuchelli, was the first English woman to travel thus far into the Eastern Himalaya. The illustrations are her own sketched during the expedition which very nearly ended in disaster. See Neale, M74, for the book reference. Very scarce.

From the opening paragraph, "In this Magazine for May was given a general resume of the remarkable expedition to the Arctic regions accomplished by Mr. C. F. Hall. We recur to the subject again mainly for the purpose of presenting some pictures, with pen and pencil, of Life among the Esquimaux, which no previous traveler has described so closely, and with as many facilities for observation." Illustrations include a view of the ship George Henry in winter-quarters, a scene of the wreck of the ship Rescue, an Inuit seal hunter, a group portrait of C. F. Hall and two natives, an Inuit summer village, a scene of a harpooner, an Inuit musician, a snow village, a dog team, and others of general interest. Housed in protective mylar report cover with spine sleeve.
