Magazine / Periodical First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Miyako Ishiuchi / Asako Narahashi Main Foto Magazine Vols. 1 - 10. Self published, limited to 500 copies each 1996 - 2000. Self-published magazine by Miyako Ishiuchi and Asako Narahashi, predominately featuring work by the two photographers themselves, as well as interviews / photos by guest photographers (Matsue Taiji, Kon Michiko and others). Themes include Ishiuchi's photos from Okinawa, viewing Takuma Nakahira's photo exhibition, Ishiuchi's photos from NYC, etc. From edition 2: "This magazine m.a.i.n. has been named after the initials of the two photographers, Miyako Ishiuchi and Asako Narahashi, who publish it. In French, these initials mean "a hand". The photographers and places where the works are always the artist's own works and places of exhibition. This magazine, we believe, is also a forum in which "the other hand" of these artists have made to demonstrate their works and themselves. Besides, this magazine is "the other hand" of media which is against the prevalent one." A run of these issues has now become scarce; a very worthwhile set. Feel free to be in touch with any questions--many thanks.
