First Edition Signed
Softcover. Signed Limited First Edition. Signed Limited First Edition. Softcover. Printed and illustrated by Laurence Scott. Out of a total edition of 150 copies, this is one of 45 hors commerce ("HH") signed by both Auden and the illustrator Scott. Also laid in is a presentation letter by the illustrator to a Mr. & Mrs. Stevens who Scott credits with introducing him to Auden's writing. The Stevens were apparently friends with Auden, and Scott calls it a "treat" to send them a copy of MARGINALIA (this copy). The letter is signed and dated November 16, 1866. The addition of the A.L.S. plus signatures of both Auden and Scott, make this a desirable item. 8vo, marbled paper-covered paperback binding, with label on front cover; long-stitched binding. PLEASE NOTE that all our First Editions are also First Printings, unless we specifically note otherwise. All our dust jackets are protected in clear mylar covers. Good to very good copy, with rubbing and minor chipping to along edges. Scarce item.
