The American Philatelist is the oldest continuously published philatelic journal in the world, the first issue having appeared in January 1887. The magazine is published monthly for members of the American Philatelic Society. It has the appearance of a standard glossy color magazine, typically running about 100 pages per issue. As the house organ, there are monthly departments covering American Philatelic Society news and activities, a president's column, and other articles specific to the Society itself. The core of the magazine consists of 5-10 articles on subjects related to philately. All of its articles feature color illustrations, graphs and charts. This issue contains the following articles: "They Took the Long Route from New York to San Francisco" (mail home from traveling around the world) by W. C. Royall Jr.; "Letter from a Worried Wife" (letter dated September 3, 1678, London) by John S. Blakemore; "Write from the Top: A Philatelic Journey Up Mount Fuji" by Richard Gartland; "Philatelic Memorabilia of St. Francis Xavier: Goa 1952" (400th anniversary of St. Francis Xavier) by Ron van der Holt; "Collecting Coast to Coast: EFOs, A Great Part of Philatelic Alphabet Soup" (terms & concepts associated with collecting errors, freaks and oddities) by Wayne Youngblood; "Exploring Back-of-the-Book: Newspaper Receipt Books in Canada and the United States" by David Straight; "Inside the NPM (National Postal Museum); Mailbox Anniversaries" (U. S. Mail Letter Boxes) by Allen Kane; "World in a Nutshell: St. Pierre & Miquelon" by Bob Lamb. Please check the images with this listing for the complete Table of Contents of articles in this issue.
