Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Hardcover. This is the original 1899 edition, not a reprint. Red cloth with gold lettering on the cover and spine. Front cover cloth (and some of the rear cover) looks as though it was once damp - the red is faded and there is a pucker or two. It does not affect the binding at all and there is no other sign of moisture anywhere. Early ownership name of J. Stansbury Wallace on the blank back side of the frontispiece portrait, dated August 22, 1903. First and only edition, 1899. 192 pages. Written by Richard Lee Tuberville Beale, who serves three times as Congressman from VA and then in the Confederate Army where he rose to the rank of Brigadier General. This copy belonged to J. Stansbury Wallace, who served on the City Council of Fredericksburg VA and was President of the National Bank of Fredericksburg. There is a copy of a 1909 newspaper notice about his death tucked inside the book. A scarce regimental history, with nice local association. Please email with questions or to request photos. It is in better condition than my fourth sentence makes it seem.
