Paperback. Condition: Very Good. The Bloomsbury Group remains of great public interest for its influence on art, literature and politics in the first half of the 20th century. Recordings of this informal association of writers, artists and intellectuals, which include Virginia and Leonard Woolf, Clive and Vanessa Bell, and Duncan Grant among others, are brought together for the first time on a 2CD set. The recordings also include reminiscences by some of those who were associated or related to the group. The CDs draw on long-unheard BBC broadcasts and recordings from the Charleston Trust, most of which are published for the first time. Other titles in the series have received press coverage in national newspapers in the UK and USA plus coverage on BBC radio. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Hard cover. Garnett, R A (Wood engravings by). (illustrator). First edition. Apparent 1st. 94 p. Wine and black, marbled-style, paper over boards. Stitched binding. Spine Glued on paper title box, w/ extra of same tucked into book. 20 cm. Wood engravings, full, partial pages in black. Gilt top, deckled side, lower blocks. A fantasy. Two lovers enter the Royal Zoological Society Gardens on a February Sunday morning were quarreling. The argument was philosophical, of sorts; each voicing love for the other but also critical of faults. The man determined to become a Zoo exhibit. Mixed views greeted him: rage, public ridicule, increased revenues. The tale continues with reactions by both visitors and animals as the man went on display. Included is Arthur Waley's translation of a poem by Wang Yen-shou from "The Temple and other Poems", p. 82-83. When the Zoo directors created other cages in the Man-House for samples of other races, the first man was joined next door by a Black Man of great verbosity. This story ends soon after when the man and woman agreed to marry and the first man left his cage for a more "normal" life. Readers may determine this century later whether the Zoo's Man-House experiment had value. Very good. No dust jacket. Minor sun-fade to spine. Age-toning to end papers.

First US edition. Olive green cloth, gilt spine and publisher's device on upper panel. 124 illustrations, 20 in color. Photographs by Howard Grey. Foreword by John Lehmann. Collector's bookplate on front pastedown; fine in equally fine dust jacket. This book brings to life all that was the milieu of Bloomsbury, a gorgeous addition to the library of a Bloomsbury collector. The Omega Workshops were started in London in 1913 by the art critic Roger Fry, and their aim was to produce painted furniture, fabrics, rugs, pottery and other items in the spirit of the Post-Impressionists. Despite the combined talents of Vanessa Bell, Henri Gaudier-Brzeska, Mark Gertler, Dora Carrington, and others, they were not a commercial success and closed in 1919.

2pp., 8vo. On aged and worn paper. The letter begins: 'Dearest Geoffrey | She is quite convinced you were Pourponne! - says it was given to her before she saw your photographs - (about which she says some very gratifying things!) How does this strike you?!' The woman is 'hunting for a confirmatory portrait'. While Lehmann herself has 'only the haziest impression of Pourponne', she does know that 'they were mutually devoted' She exclaims: 'Oh do hurry up & start this book! And when might we go to Les Rochers?' She is going to Yoxford and it is an 'awful effort', although the 'delicious burst of Spring does help' She sends love to 'Glenn' and in a postscript reports the opinion of 'Clarise': 'From the younger yachtsman photographh one can postively hear the French accent!' Did she mean "pouponne" meaning infantile?.

Three pages, 12mo, good condition."Mrs Lynd's [ Sylvia Lynd, author ] letter about the Femina Committee followed me here where I am spending a few days. The onlky objection I can see to inserting the word 'formerly' before F.V.H. [Femina - Vie Heureuse ] is that the title of the Prize Committee would be even more unwieldy than it already is!- but of course I am in favour of trying to settle the difference between the two French committees, and hope Mrs Lynd will write the letter she suggests in her letter. I must admit that I didn't realize there were two [underlined] French committees.".
