Contains: The Terrible Punishment of the Naughty Boys of Corinth; The Disobedient Children Who Stole Sugar-Bread; Cat And Mouse; The Fearful Tragedy of Ice-Peter. Reprinted in 1900 as A Book of Merry Thoughts. Oblong format, pictorial front board, green cloth spine. Comical b/w illustrations accompanied by hunourous verse. The book has been repaired with all pages having reinforced hinges. Page 13 of Cat and Mouse is missing as it is from all copies. Covers are worn and chipped at edges and badly scuffed to rear. Extensive foxing and grubby marks throughout with pencil drawings and annotation mainly on blank pages. Despite all this it remains a readable copy of a scarce Victorian book. Packaged with care and promptly dispatched!.

Oblong 4to., pp.(iv),14,16,16,16, cloth-backed pictorial paper-covered boards, plates and vignettes hand-coloured by Busch; foxing to margins throughout, wear to extremities, with loss to paper covering of front board at lower margin, a good(+) copy of this scarce hand-coloured edition. The second title Cat and Mouse appears to be lacking page 13 although there is no sign it has ever been there.
