Book
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Light green paper wraps; 35pp; frontis photograph; 8 photo illustrations. [No. 98 - Second Series - 3000.] Publication of the Indian Rights Association, "a non-partisan, non-sectarian organization for promoting the civilization of the Indian and for securing his natural and political rights." The information contained within was secured by a trip in Alaska along the Yukon River from Eagle to Holy Cross, and on the Tanana River from Fairbanks to Fort Gibbon, a trip of about 1,600 miles. The authors write a paragraph or two about most every village they encountered along the way, noting health and social conditions, education, living conditions, use (or not) of alcohol, morals, mission / church activity, etc. The photos included show representative buildings in some of the villages or town sites. An early, very scarce, overview of Alaska natives soon after the arrival of Euro-Americans to that particular region. Some light discoloration and minor soiling to wraps; several of the pages have some splotches of discoloration; o/w in overall VG+ condition.
