Halfbound in black leather and green buckram with gilded raised bands on the spine. Three books bound into one volume: The Christmas Books is illustrated by F. Barnard and includes "A Christmas Carol," "The Chimes," "The Cricket on the Hearth," "The Battle of Life," and "The Haunted Man." The Uncommercial Traveller, the second included book is illustrated by E. G. Dalziel. The Christmas Stories, included third, is also illustrated by E. G. Dalziel. Many of the plates have been handcolored. Interior pages are in generally good condition, with light toning and reading wear, as well as some light to moderate foxing. Front free endpaper/frontispiece have moderate damp staining to the top corner, but other than this staining there are no markings or staining throughout the textblock. The textblock is holding together well, with no loose pages or cracking. Rear hinge has a moderate crack. Front hinge has a moderate to heavy crack. The leather over the spine has mostly peeled away from the front joint, but is still attached to the bottom of the joint. Publishers dark green cloth, embossed in gilt and black. A little corner-worn. Foxed; largely to outer leaves and page margins. Original publication date neatly penned to title page of each volume. Hinges cracked and name neatly penned to the front pastedown of `David Copperfield`. Cloth to the joints of `the Pickwick Papers` are fraying somewhat. `Martin Chuzzlewit` is very shaken, with quire often not far off coming loose and the hinges are cracked or cracking with the front hinge being supported with tape. Rear hinge of `Little Dorrit` is cracked.
