Paperback. Good+ paperback (light edgewear, pages age-toned, backstrip starting to detach from spine but remains complete and holding). Contents clean and unmarked. 206 pp Paperback. This is a record of the ministry of the Rev. Gertrude von Petzold at Leicester. Contains a compliments slip from the author dated 1947 and a 2 leaf typed letter signed by the author with interesting details of Gertrude von Petzold to the Rev. Barbara Thomas (the aunt of the author) in the original stamped envelope, together with Gertrude von Petzold's address details in Germany. Gertrude von Petzold (1876-1952) was a German Unitarian Minister and, after education and training at St. Andrews, Edinburgh and Oxford, was the first woman appointed for church ministry in England at the Narborough Road Free Christian Church in Leicester (in 1904). After a spell in the USA she returned to Germany in 1914. This is a very scarce book and, with its other associations, is an important record of an extraordinary period in female ministry in England. The image on this page is of the actual book for sale.
