First Edition
First Edition. Octavo (16cm); olive green cloth, stamped in gilt; TEG; 146pp. Minor surface wear, with light rubbing to extremities. Light foxing to textblock preliminaries; ex libris stamp on front pastedown. Very Good overall. This book contains 33 Jewish poems, translated into English from the original Hebrew by Nina Davis. These poems mostly date to the 9th to 12th centuries; several are by Jehudah Halevi, a Spanish-Jewish physician and philosopher who wrote hundreds of poems (secular and religious), and who is still considered one of the greatest Jewish poets.
