Book Description: Cameo, 1970. Soft cover. Book Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. LEONARD CHRIS (DEAN KOONTZ penname) - HUNG!, published by Cameo #8063, copyright 1970, First printing. This book is one of a number of 30 or so books that Dean Koontz wrote for Cameo books early in his career under various pennames (like Linda Mitchell or Gracie Amber), and one book he actually published under his own name (Bounce Girl). Dean Koontz has since disavowed and otherwise denied having ever written such books (besides Bounce Girl which was published under his own name and this particular Leonard Chris book "Hung"), but the evidence is undisputable: The Library of Congress confirms that Gerda Ann Koontz (Dean's wife) holds the copyrights to this book. "Gracie" is one of the five names listed in the dedication of the gothic romance "Demon Child" (which Koontz wrote under the penname of Deanna Dwyer). All five of the first names listed in the dedication of "Demon Child" have turned out to be pseudonyms that Dean had used for this particular "Adult" literature. In an article written by Dean Koontz entitled "Dean's Drive" in the sci-fi fanzine Energumen #8 (6/71), Dean Koontz admitted to writing 30 of these books in 1970 (including "Share The Warm Flesh" - this book), along with Pig Society and The Underground Lifestyles Handbook (both of which were also published by the same publisher, Cameo books in 1970). One of the titles that Dean Koontz admits to having written ("Thirteen and Ready") was written under the penname of Ann Griffin. In an early sci-fi fanzine, Beabohema #8 (1970), Dean Koontz again talked about writing these books. The authors initials (A.G.) are simply Dean's wife's initials in reverse. One of the Ann Griffin cameo books "Protest Ball," lists the author's address as Harrisburg, Pennsylviania (where Dean and his wife were living in 1970). Finally, in Dean Koontz's writing how-to book "How to Write Popular Fiction" (1972), he refers to these books and specifically to the Ann Griffin penname. Book has vertical spine creasing, no spine lean, cover creases, hint of rounding to cover corners, slight dust/handling soiling and faint moisture outline marking to covers, no former owner markings or used bookstore markings inside, no missing pages, just a couple of creased page corners, pages are flat and tight, pages are age yellowing at edges, hint of edge wear, no color wear to covers. Overall a VG/VG book of this rare 1970s Dean Koontz pen name book. I have a number of other U.S. and U.K. Dean Koontz 1st printing hardcover/ paperback/magazine appearances up for sale. Book Description: Warner Books, 1988. Hardcover. Book Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. TRUE FIRST PRINTING (complete 10 - 1 numberline and "First Printing October, 1988" on copyright page), illustrated endpapers, dark blue quarterbound boards with gilt spine lettering, $17.95 price on DJ front flap. THE ARTIST PHIL PARKS PREPARED (IT WAS EITHER 10 OR 12) EDITIONS OF THIS BOOK ALL CONTAINING ORIGINAL COLORED DRAWINGS OF THE MAJOR CHARACTERS FROM THE BOOK ON THE FIRST BLANK PAGE FOLLOWING THE TITLE PAGE (I.E. THE POST-TITLE PAGE). IN ADDITION TO THE ORIGINAL DRAWING, PHIL PARKS PROVIDED A SHORT INSCRIPTION WITH HIS DATED SIGNATURE, AND DEAN KOONTZ ALSO PROVIDED A SHORT INSCRIPTION WITH HIS DATED SIGNATURE. Book is unread with pages that are white with sharp corners, no creased page corners, nice tight spine with no spine lean, no internal hinge splits or glue tearing at internal spine creases (common defect with this book because its so heavy it puts a lot of strain on the hinge), no former owner's markings or used bookstore stamps/stickers inside, no scotch tape marks or other discoloration to endpapers, no wear to board edges or corners or spine tips, very very tiny bump to top right board corner, internal hinges are still tight. Dust jacket has no chipping, tearing or creasing, no wear to front flap crease or to spine tips, no age yellowing, no soiling or staining to this all-white dust jacket, no edge wear, no spine sun fading. Overall a N-FINE book in N-FINE condition dust jacket (not price clipped) of a rare illustrated out-of-print Dean Koontz first printing hardcover book that is difficult to find in nice condition due to it being a children's book and due to its weight CONTAINING AN ORIGINAL COLORED DRAWING BY PHIL PARKS AND SIGNED BY DEAN KOONTZ. Book has very faint vertical spine creasing, no spine lean, no cover creases, no soiling or staining to covers, no former owner markings or used bookstore markings inside, no missing pages, no creased page corners, pages are flat and tight, pages are age yellowing, very slight edge wear, just a hint of color rubbing wear to covers (common defect due to the all-green cover). Overall a VG+/FINE- book of this rare 1970s Dean Koontz pen name book. I have a number of other U.S. and U.K. Dean Koontz 1st printing hardcover/ paperback/magazine appearances up for sale. An otherwise Fine copy marred by a manufacturing defect [that is, as received from the publisher]: the upper right corner was significantly bumped [more so at the front than the rear] resulting in softness/creasing to the cover corners and some creasing/rippling to the page corners [with publisher's descriptive promotional leaf for the book folded and laid in] [this version was not issued in Dust Wrapper] in a handmade custom traycase wrapped in an embossed orange Pellaq paper by Skivertex, with a custom embossed pumpkin design on the lid, and lined inside with black felt. [Please note that when originally issued, this item was accompanied by a separate piece of original artwork by Glenn Chadbourne. That artwork no longer accompanies this copy]. Signed.
