Published b y The Harvill Press Ltd in 1950, here is the 2nd impression, hardback printing of Theodor Haecker's JOURNAL IN THE NIGHT 1939-1945 edited by Alexander Dru. Blue cloth binding, gilt lettering, 222 pages, the book is in good condition with some minor spotting/staining to the rear end paper and to the extreme outside page edges, plus the name of a previous owner (the revered Oxford scholar and Hertford College fellow Anthony Cockshut) written in blue ink to the front free end paper. Anthony has also made one or two light pencil markings to the borders. The dust jacket is fair with some general spotty staining to front and rear covers and insides, plus some spine tanning and some general chipping and creasing to the edges and corners culminating in 4 smallish tears all below 10mm in length. A seriously important book.
