Front panel is Ben Jorj Harris's brightly colored airbrush depiction of little, elfin Tommy Teaberry standing atop a sprig of winterberry leaves and berries. Rear panel shows Tommy, winterberry sprig at his feet, but holding-in-display posture, a full pack of Teaberry Chewing Gum. Minor rubbing to extremities of book, and several very small dark spots to rear board. Additional lovely airbrush drawings to endpapers, and throughout. Text author unknown. Book bears the ex-libris sticker of Anna Dorsey Cooke, to bottom of front free endpapers, Children's (pre-)"Disney-fication" about the back story behind Clark Brother's Teaberry Chewing Gum. An early "Infommercial" in book form, designed to get the kids hooked on the uniquely-flavored teaberry gum. The flavor is very similar to this cataloguer found when chewing twigs from young yellow birch trees in Vermont, the flavor released being methyl salicylate, aka Wintergreen. "Benjamin Harris was a pioneer in airbrush art in popular media, and along with his wife Georgette became a big proponent of the Art Deco style of the 1930s. While they are not directly related in style to many of the ragtime era cover artists in this collection, their work is both a follow-up to and evolution of those who came before them in creating memorable sheet music art." (Bill Edwards article on Rag Piano website). ".Alright, but you'll have to go to Clark's Teaberry Castle, said Ticklebeard, 'and that means you'll have to be squirted.'" "Squirted? What do you mean?" said Tommy. "I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about!" "If you weren't squirted people would be able to see you, and that would never do." "Just stand still," and with that Ticklebeard took a squirt-gun made from a morning-glory flower and sprayed Tommy all over with dew and flower-honey.".
