Writing in pencil on front free endpaper; pages have toned, but are otherwise clean and unmarked. A fragment of the rear flap of the original dust jacket is tucked inside the back cover. Inscribed to Charles Michel (?) and signed, in blue ink, on the page following the title page. Henrietta Nesbitt, housekeeper to the Roosevelts during FDR's time in the White House, writes a tell-all about her time there. Signed by Author(s).

She oversaw the installation of a new kitchen, replacement of draperies and rugs, and continual battles against mice, moths, ants, and other pests. Nesbitt also provides insights into the character of the Roosevelts and of some of the many VIPs who visited the White House. / Oliver Shewell Franks, Baron Franks (1905Ð1992) was an English civil servant and philosopher. Knighted in 1946, he was the British Ambassador to the United States of America from 1948 to 1952. About very good. Spine slightly faded. Signedes.
