Vol. One is Fair to Poor: front hinge has completely separated from binding; binding is otherwise good (no loose pages); textblock is complete (xxvii + 470 pages); pages are clean and flat; rear hinge cracked and loose but still connected to binding. Vol. Two, which contains pages 471 to 846 plus the index, is VG: pages are clean and flat; binding tight; front hinge secure, but shows looseness; rear hinge loose but intact with split in endpapers at top where gauze is visible. Both ex-libs have the usual stamps, markings, and labels. Both covers: faded by the sun but with little edgewear; gilt on front still clear and bold; ink on spine rubbed; two library labels on spine of volume two; no labels on spine of volume one. Sold as a set for one low price. Ex-Library.
