Book has bumped and slightly worn corners and spine, spine lettering at 15%, modest cover soiling. A wonderful dated inscription by the Author is what makes this book special. Book Description: Christopher Publishing House, Boston, 1938. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good+. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Robert Horton graduated from Albion College in Albion, Michigan in 1897 and he became a civil engineer, ecologist, soil scientist, and eminent hydrologist. His last paper on the latter subject, published shortly before his death in 1945, became a classic in the field. The medal given to outstanding scientists in this field is named in his honor. He authored countless scientific papers, but was prompted to venture into fiction with the collection of short stories in Apples from Eden. Some of the 13 stories such as Apples from Eden and Doughnuts had links to his time at Albion College. Others were probably connected to his work in Upstate New York. The inscription on the front fly reads: From Mr. Robert E. Horton, March 1939, Voorhesville, New York. There is toning to the flys and to the pages of the text - the jacket spine is faded but clear. A hard to find gem whose actual author has not generally been known. Signed by Author(s). Bookseller Inventory # 000788
