Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good+. First Thus. First reprint of Stuart's first published work in 1930. This copy is bound in flexible heavy oatmeal colored boards with blue spine. Spine is lettered in black. A brown paper dust jacket with golden lettering and light brown decoration on front board and spine shows rubbing at tips and corners. Inscribed to close friend in length (full page) on front free endpaper. The importance of this reprint is due to the scarcity of the First Edition. The jacket flap says "very few"; the introduction states "only three known"; Westerfield in his foreword states "two copies are known". Stuart states in his inscription "six". The reason for this is Stuart was unhappy with the first run he received, canceled the remainder, and destroyed all but the first few he gave to friends and teachers. A copy of the original can bring several thousand dollars. Additional information and/or photos are available upon request. Inscribed by Author(s).

Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. This is the first book of this legendary Kentucky writer. This was the first reprint (in 1964), of the original 1930 edition. Dissatisfaction with the book, made Jesse destroy most of the super scarce original, and even the 1964 edition is quite scarce. No other reprints until the Jesse Stuart Foundation reprinted it in 1998, were done. This is an 80 pp. softback. This copy has a tipped-in page with an inscription and autograph by the author from 1972. Slightly erasured area near top of front, just to be specific, but does not radically harm appearance or condition. Lists to $250.00 for signed copies online. -- THE PHOTO IS A STOCK IMAGE -- NOT A PHOTO OF THIS COPY !!. Inscribed by Author(s).
