INSCRIBED by Sheldon to Frederick Lincoln on the free front endpaper. Vermont native Sheldon, firearms expert, World War I veteran, and one time Vermont Fish and Game Commissioner was also a popular gun/game writer for The Sportsman, Field and Stream, and Outdoors Magazine, among others. This copy a presentation from Sheldon to Colorado native Lincoln, prolific writer in the field of birds (Migration of Birds, e.g. ) and driving force in the formation of the North American bird banding program. Lincoln's bookplate on front pastedown. Copy of U.S. Dept. of Agriculture press release announcing Sheldon appointed as Chief U.S. Game Warden, June 24, 1926, laid in. Title page working loose and light shelf rubs to board tips & spine ends, but GOOD in the publisher's green cloth with faded gilt spine lettering.
