Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Cloth-backed grey paper boards. Tall octavo. 148pp. 1 of 275 copies on Japan paper. Inscribed by Eben Francis Thompson to Charles Rockwell Lanman, professor of Sanskrit studies at Harvard University. A verse translation from the Persian original of Omar Khayyam. Eben Francis Thompson, a Worcester lawyer, was encouraged by his friend, Nathan Haskell Dole, to learn Persian in order to translate the Rubaiyat into verse. This edition prints Fitzgerald's translation, the Persian original and Thompson's verse translation. A very good copy with some light wear to the covers, some light soiling to the white cloth spine and heavy fading to the spine label. The text is very good with some scattered light foxing. A new spine label is laid down on the rear inside cover. Inscribed by Author(s).
