First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. John Kolyer. A Date with Divine. The Sangreal Press Newport Beach California 1990. 74-page hardcover , no dust jacket. Some pages near the end dented due to being pressed during binding. This is a prose and poetry dialogue among a large number of groups and characters. Divine is very like Harris Glenn Milstead, star of numerous John Waters films.(The verso of the title page asserts that any resemblance to persons living or dead is coincidental. Milstead died in 1988). Lots of weirdly appropriated light verse, interspersed with prose: We sit on boulders and listen to the chanting. YOUNG CAREER WOMEN: Cradle to graves, /Women were slaves, /But now we re free /Militantly .OLD EXECUTIVES: But be careful in/ Exploring of sin!/ We sold our minds. BORED HOUSEWIVES: We, our behinds. .OLD MAIDS: Our lives are cold/And issueless. YOUNG CAREER WOMEN: Because you re old/Men kiss you less. The general sensibility is Waters-esque. This is the only copy I have ever seen.
