First UK edition hard back binding in publisher's original colour illustrated paper covered boards. 8vo. 9½'' x 7''. Contains 64 pages of colour illustrations with text around. Due to the success of Dr Seuss' books, an independent publishing company was formed, called: Beginner Books. When he first began writing and illustrating children's books, Theodor Geisel combined 'Dr.' and 'Seuss,' his middle name, which was also his mother's maiden name, to create the pseudonym 'Dr. Seuss.' Theodor Seuss Geisel, became the president and the editor. Rubbing along the bottom edges of the boards. Very Good condition book in Good condition dust wrapper with 40 mm closed tear and related crease lines to the foot of the front cover, chips and tears to the spine ends and corners. Dust wrapper supplied in archive acetate film protection, it does not adhere to the book or to the dust wrapper. Member of the P.B.F.A. CHILDREN'S & JUVENILE.
