¾ S. Gr.-4to. An William Tallon (1935 2007), den Kammerdiener von Queen Mum, der Mutter von Königin Elisabeth II., über ein Portrait, das er von dem englischen Thronfolger Prinz Charles geschaffen hatte: [.] I have as usual enjoyed my sittings with the Prince of Wales: but it has been a bit of a nightmare, getting enough time from him [.] The trouble is I think HRH s office tends to see what is left over after all the other calls that there are on his time, and slot the painter in then. It doesn t seem to regard the artist as any sort of priority [.] but since these pictures are around for a very long time (well, failing fire, mice or nuclear attack anyway) it does seem to me to be a mistake to deal with sittings that way [.]". Auf Briefpapier mit gedr. Briefkopf.
Leather. Condition: Fine. Michael Noakes et al (illustrator). Robert Morley's biographical work, rebound in a lovely leather binding for the library of Academy Award Nominee, Gladys Cooper. Includes the original dustwrapper. A biographical work co-written by Robert Morley and Sewell Stokes, about the life and work of Robert Morley. Robert Morley was a English actor born in 1908. Making his West End debut in 1929, he would go on to perform on Broadway and star in numerous films. In 1938 he received an Academy Award nomination for his role in the film 'Marie Antoinette' This particular volume has been rebound in leather, with the name 'Gladys Cooper' in gilt to the front pastedown. It can be assumed that the name Gladys Cooper refers to Morley's mother-in-law. Copper, much like Morley, was an incredibly successful stage actress, working in the West End for many years. In 1940 she moved to Hollywood, where she began her film career. One of her most notable roles was Miss Higgins in 'My Fair Lady'. Starring alongside Audrey Hepburn, Cooper would receive her third Academy Award Nomination for this particular role. The original dustwrapper has been bound into the rear of the volume. Bound by Sangorski and Sutcliffe, with stamp the binders stamp to the rear pastedown. Rebound in a full morocco binding. Externally excellent, with some minor shelf wear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Minor rubbing to the fold of dustwrapper, to the rear of the volume. Fine. book.
