Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Modern development had its hesitant beginnings less than 300 years ago, and historians still debate the forces behind this ongoing event. It clearly is related to the organization of human efforts and the use of natural sources, but arrangements in relation to trade and access to resources are equally significant. There is no society or country that does not want to take part in what we call economic development, but without degrading people to becoming just producing automata. Still we occasionally divide the word into the developed and the less developed (or even underdeveloped) parts of the world. It is not easy to point exactly to causes for the rapid development of some countries and why others linger behind. Many theories have been put forward to explain development and the lack of it. In this book, an attempt has been made to point to some of the factors that may have had a decisive influence on development and what has hindered such development. Both historical factors and soc Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Buch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -St. Paul was, in many ways, an ascetic and happy to be so, but he refused to make asceticism a general model or ideal for Christians - most people cannot live by such principles, especially in the area of sex. In the seventh chapter of his first letter to Corinth, he rejects any appeal for his support of sexual abstinence as ethically superior to active sexual relations. He sets limits, but does not limit legitimate sexual relations to marriage. In his day, it was commonly believed that homosexual practice, more easily than heterosexual relations, could bring people into harmony with the unchangeable nature of God. This Paul strongly rejects in the first chapter of his letter to Rome. Otherwise he does not write about 'natural' homosexuality. In fact, it is a logical inference from the principles he sets forth in his letter to Corinth that loving, lasting homosexual relations are ethically as valid as heterosexual relations. Dr. Molvaer maintains that insight into contemporary ideologies can be a help to understanding what the New Testament says about these matters. Today, as in the early Church, extraneous influences in these areas can easily distort genuine Christian moral concerns as they are stated by Christ and St. Paul. Reidulf Molvaer was born in Norway in 1937 and married in 1980 and now has four sons. He was educated in Norway (Oslo) and England (London University, PhD), worked 20 years in Africa in development work for churches and the UN and was a senior researcher in Oslo until retirement. 152 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - A longtime scholar of Ethiopian history and Amharic writings, Reidulf Molvær crafted a thesis with the intent of understanding that history from new and rejuvenating perspectives. The resulting work, ¿Tradition and Change in Ethiopia: Social and Cultural Life as Reflected in Amharic Fictional Literature,¿ is a sweeping study of the importance of fictional writing as a barometer for the culture and lifestyle within which it is crafted. In the introduction, Molvaer writes ¿authors have at all times acted as a kind of ¿conscience¿ of society, and in their writings they include their own evaluation of social institutions and customs in the country.¿ With this volume, the author looks at 12 influential Ethiopian writers that wrote as a reflection of their changing society, no matter their economic, social or cultural standing. The turbulence of the 20th century came at a time when literature in Amharic first began to break out, and everything from the class structure of society and the forms of private relationships to the attitudes towards change and new aspirations are described as they are found within the texts. Within the words of the authors, albeit fictional, comes an understanding of what their eyes had seen and what their ears had heard.
