[corners bumped but otherwise only mild wear, discoloration to endpapers from jacket, small spot on fore-edge; jacket very worn at edges, missing a 1-1/2" x 3/4" piece at lower left front, various smaller chunks along bottom edge, etc.]. [Note that all four corners of the jacket flaps are trimmed at about the same angles; whether it was designed this way, or thus trimmed by a previous owner, I couldn't say. ] The jacket flaps contain nice illustrations of the book's major characters -- Rod Norwood ('Trapper, hunter, fur trader; and withal a gentleman'), Marian Ransom ('The Girl'), Aaron Kron ('The Spider'--'a brutal, powerful figure of the fur-country [ who] spreads his web with sinister cunning.'), etc.
