First Edition
First edition. First Edition. Disbound. Pages [319]-501. Frontispiece portrait of Pond. Disbound from Volume XII of the Minnesota Historical Society Collections. Samuel Pond came to Minnesota, with his brother Gideon, in 1834 and became the first missionaries residing among the Sioux. An excellent early history of the Sioux, Rev. Pond felt that it was important to record the way the Sioux lived prior to much exposure to white men, "while they still retained the customs of their ancestors". A very interesting account addressing all aspects of everyday life of the Sioux at that time. Fine.
