Pages brown with age but very readable. Some early pages have cracked and are torn about an inch on top and bottom. All pages accounted for. Many nice illustration accompanying the descriptions of windmills.

The only other library markings are fading white numbers at lower spine. With general soiling of boards, ends of spine fraying, with more at the head end, also some edge wear at extremities; three corners are rubbed through. No dust jacket. Binding remains solid. No dust jacket.

Collated, complete. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally smart and bright, though slightly darkened to the spine, with small tears to the cloth to the head of the joints showing it has been pulled to the head of the spine. With two-colour patterned endpapers, a title page decoration, fifteen splendid colour lithographic plates and thirty black and white drawings in the text. A scattering of quite light occasional spotting, but almost all of the plates entirely spared. A very good copy in a distressed example of the uncommon dust wrapper, split into two parts of the front panel/spine panel join with some makeshift internal repair, and with a two-inch area of loss from the base of the spine panel, a smaller area from the head, and with several tiny closed tears and one small snag. Magnificent lithographs of windmills in Sweden, The Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Belgium, France, Cologne, Sussex, Kent, Barking, Ramsgate, Crowborough and Winchelsea.
Cloth. Condition: Very Good ++. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good+. Brangwyn, Frank (illustrator). Plates all present. Book is bright and tight with just one minor mark at top of front board. Bumping to spine ends and corners. Internally hinges intact and a contemporary bookplate tipped in on f.e.p. Old ownership name on verso of end paper with partial offsetting from it on the half title which also has a few spots of foxing.Title page also has some minor foxing to the leading edge as well as a few light ink spots but very minor. The blank, following the final text leaf, has some spots as does the end paper it faces. A few of the text pages have a spot on the margin but very few and very minor. The jacket is sunned to spine and the adjacent inch on each panel with some light scuff marks on spine itself. Loss around spine ends and wear to hinges where there is a short bit of vertical loss at the middle of front hinge. 1" tear to front panel at top and bottom. Darkening across the top inch on both panels and loss to corners. Some internal reinforcing/repair but done with archival paper. The list of, mainly small, defects does not detract from it being a nice copy in a decent jacket.
