Splitting at front hinge, personal ink inscription on front fly paper. Also some ink markings on biography index. 742 pages with index of biographical names. The first 256 pages are a history of these counties in California, the remainder is a collection of biographical sketches of prominent citizens throughout the years, many accompanied by portraits on plates.

Carson, lumber magnate 1825-1912. 1500pp, thick leatherbound quarto, raised bands to spine, gilt titles to spine and front cover. Some scuffing to boards yet gilt titles clean and clear, wear to spine, backstrip splitting from book 3/4 of the way down front board edge yet backstrip remains solidly intact and secure, binding strong and solid, interior clean.
