Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Gordon Browne (illustrator). 1st Edition. A super fine copy of the 1st edition in almost unread clean condition. Boards are very bright and fresh as, clearly, the book has been stored very well over the years. Dust jacket not clipped, in fact no pricing appears on the flaps. There is a small tear at the front hinge of the dj but it remains remarkably well preserved. Bit of browning to the decorative end papers but, on the whole, the book is very fresh looking throughout. Small light pencilled inscription is almost certainly in the hand of AWF Fuller (see other listings) and simply states "27 Sept 1924" with a "T" encircled below that. I can't offer an explanation for the T but, judging by the other books in the collection, Fuller was in the habit of making helpful notes in his books. The inscription may simply be the date he catalogued the book or even just acquired it. In all a splendid example of this sought after 1st ed.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Gordon Browne and W. Hatherell (illustrator). 1st Edition. First Edition. Original blue cloth, gilt titles on cover and spine, including a female figure on cover. As with most (if not all) copies, the book's price on the preliminary ad lea was raised by hand. A few known copies have ads dated Sept. 1892; however, since the book wasn't published until early April 1893, we regard the March 1893 ads in this copy as "primary." The is an unusually bright copy, without the external wear or soil - near fine (with slightly cracked endpapers with marginal damage on some leaves due to careless opening). Beinecke 577.
